5 More Years of Spinning

Pierre-Marc Bouchard signed a 5-year, $20.4 million deal, making sure that Wild fans will see plenty of spinning for years to come.

This signing also brings up more questions (other than how many spin-o-ramas will we see):
- Will Stephane Veilleux sign next summer instead of testing the free agency market now that his bud PMB is locked up?
- How much is Doug Risebrough willing to use the verbal no trade clause he used for PMB's contract (verbally assuring him he will not be traded for the first 2 years of his contract, similar to the assurance he gave Nick Schultz for his six-year deal) and how does he find it different than the written agreement, which the Wild has been hesitant to give in earlier deals?
- What will happen with Marian Gaborik's contract?

BallHype: hype it up!

Hey, Elise... I'm really glad to that Pierre-Marc Bouchard is sticking around. At least the Wild did something right this summer (besides the Stephane Veilleux signing).

It's too bad that it appeared to be of a low priority from the outset of the free agent season to get PMB re-signed. Of course we were prepared to see him leave as rumors he could've been traded away had surfaced. The fact the Wild lost out on the Marian Hossa sweepstakes, allowed Pavol Demitra to walk and failed to bring back Brian Rolston, I have a feeling that Doug Risebrough was now backed into a corner to retain one of the key players left that were his own free agents.

Gaborik wants a shitload. I say tell him to shove it up his ass...sideways.

Paul - The one thing I'm really disappointed in this off season is that the Wild didn't bring Rolston back. He was such an important part of our team and I feel like, even with the trades and signings we have made, we still have a huge hole on the team with his absence.

kirsten - It will be interesting to see how the Gaborik thing pans out. I wrote an entire post on HLOG the other day about how Koivu was basically better than Gaborik.

I'm relieved that we signed PMB to the team. I don't really know what will happen with Risebrough's verbal contract - especially if he's not with the team after this year (a girl can hope) - but PMB must trust him since he signed the contract with no clause about this in it.

What games are you most looking forward to this season?

cortney - PMB seemed to really want to stay in MN, so that made me happy.
As for games I'm looking forward to this season, it'll be interesting to see some of the old guys come back (Rolston, Voros, Fedoruk, Demitra)

It's a quality post, too. I was going to post something on HLOG to the same effect, but I decided that yours was better than anything I would have put together, so I just referred people to it.
